 Guangxi Normal University is located in Guilin, a city with the unique beauty of mountains, rivers and long history. As one of the key universities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region, it has three campuses namely the Wangcheng Campus, the Yucai Campus and the Yanshan Campus, covering an area of nearly 208 hectares. The university has a personnel of more than 2,180 and students of 26,705, of whom 14,600 are undergraduates, 4,100 postgraduates and 35 doctors, 370 foreign students, and about 7,600 students for refresher courses and correspondence study. Since its founding 76 years ago, it has cultivated more than 160 thousand teachers and other talents for the country and the region in particular.  

Research and disciplines

Guangxi Normal University is one of the three universities granting doctor degrees in Guangxi province. It has 1 postdoctoral research base, 3 level II disciplines granting doctor degrees, 5 level I disciplines granting postgraduate degrees, 87 level II disciplines granting postgraduate degrees, 2 majors granting postgraduate degrees and 49 full-time undergraduate majors. In addition, there are 12 key disciplines and 2 key construction disciplines at provincial level. All the disciplines cover a wide range of categories, including philosophy, economics, laws, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, management and so on, forming a talent-cultivating system with complete categories and multilevel, featured with harmonious development of both normal disciplines and non-normal disciplines.

Now, the university has 1,280 full-time teachers, of whom 47% or 598 have received senior professional titles and 68% or 872 with master or higher degree.

International exchanges and cooperation

 Guangxi University sets up exchange and cooperation relationship with 153 higher education colleges and institutions in 36 countries and regions. From 2003 to 2007, the university received 4,368 people from 457 delegations and it also assigns 153 delegations, totaling 768 people to foreign counterparts to pay visit or to do research or for academic exchanges. Due to its great efforts to develop international student education, it has received almost 10 thousand international students and offers Chinese language training, undergraduate course, postgraduate course and doctor degree cause ranging from Chinese to another different 11 majors. All these international students are from 29 countries and Guangxi Normal University has the largest Vietnam student group. The university gained the approval to be one of the national Chinese education center and one of the first universities qualified to send Chinese volunteer teachers to overseas. It made joint-efforts with Songkla University in Thailand and Malang University in Indonesia to set up Confucius Colleges. In addition, the university actively explores ways for international cooperation and exchanges. It has continuously made joint-programs with many universities in the United States, the UK, France and Germany.
