Profile

Guizhou Normal University was founded in 1941. Originally named National Guiyang Normal College, it was renamed Guiyang Normal College in 1950 and the present name was given in 1985.  The university was affirmed as a key university at the provincial level. In 2004, Guizhou Vocational College of Science and Technology was merged into the university.  

The university is located in Guiyang, "the forest city", also known as the “city of summer resort”. It consists of two campuses, one in Yunyan District and the other in Baiyun District, covering an area of about a thousand mu. The floor area of the school buildings is 471.7 thousand square meters.

Teaching and Research

The university has a faculty of 1,338, including 199 professors, 373 associated professors, 115 doctorate holders, 71 doctoral students and 536 master degree holders. The university has 18 schools, 1 college for further education and 1 independent college (the Qiushi College), and 2 teaching departments.

In the university, there are now 16,326 full-time regular and junior college students and 1,602 graduate students. In the past five years the employment rate of undergraduates is steady at 90% and the employment rate of graduates is 100%.

Cooperation and Exchanges

The university attaches great importance to international cooperative programs, having established long-term cooperative relations with universities and research institutions in 30 countries and regions such as the USA, the UK, Canada, Japan, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea and Japan.
