Originally established in 1871 as the Royal Page School producing graduates for government services, Chulalongkorn University has since then been instrumental in providing equal opportunities in higher education for all. This vision was realized by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI), who founded Chulalongkorn University as the Kingdom’s first university in 1917. Chulalongkorn University is one of the most comprehensive universities in Thailand, identifying its academic strength in all of the four major areas: health science, science and technology, social sciences, and humanities.
Chulalongkorn University is a research-led university whose mission in teaching and research is holistic. Today, Chulalongkorn University has 28 Teaching Divisions (18 Faculties, 2 Schools, 3 Colleges, 2 Institutes, 3 Affiliated Institutes), 10 Academic Centers, 12 Research Institutes, 19 Centers of Excellence and 98 Research Units, covering almost all disciplines, attracting the best minds of the country, both as lecturers and students.
Chulalongkorn University has enthusiastic, respectable, high-profile teaching staff and specialists to educate the students. The University’s 484 programs inclusive of 70 international programs cover all fields of study both traditional academic discipline and interdisciplinary studies are offered in the various Teaching Divisions to approximately 35,000 students.
