1. About Guizhou
|
· Guizhouis briefly named Qin or Gui, with Guiyang as its provincial seat. It covers an area of over 176,167 square kilometers. The population of permanent residents is 37.67 million. Guizhou has seen great development in its modern-day industries, especially in respect of coal, electric power, nonferrous metals, machinery, which are occupying important positions in the country.
· Guizhou is located in the mountainous plateau where peaks towering in the sky, rivers flowing down deep valleys and the complicated karst terrain combine to make up unique landscapes. Its relatively secluded geography makes it possible for the primitive cultures of various ethnic groups to remain intact. So, a dazzling array of ethnic cultures and customs is presented in the province. Besides, Guizhou abounds in mineral and water resources. With the development of industry and transport system in the province, this land will be galvanized into life.
· Weather: The climate of Guizhou is temperate, without severe winters or hot summers. The annual temperature averages 15°C, with a frost-free period of about 270 days a year. The rainfall per annum is 1100-1300 millimeters.
· Scenic Spots: Huangguoshu Waterfall, Dragon's Palace, Zhijin cave, Hongfeng (Red Maple) Lake, Qingyan Ancient Town, Maling River Valley, etc.

2. Guizhou University
|
Guizhou University is the only key university in Guizhou prioritized to develop itself in line with the criteria of the "211 Project". Its predecessor, Guizhou Institute of Higher Learning, was founded in 1902. It covers a total area of 3786.83 hectors (2,524,571 square meters), comprising of 9 campuses in different areas in Guiyang City.
The university consists of 24colleges and 3 public education departments. It has 24 provincial key subjects, 1 postdoctoral research station, 3 state-level postdoctoral research stations for major projects. It offers 11 PhD programs, 149 Master’s programs and 6 Master's programs for specialized subjects all are authorized to confer degrees. Guizhou University contains 112 undergraduate specialties. Among them, 38 are characteristic specialties including 5 ministry-level ones and 10 province-level model specialities. The disciplines cover 11 branches of learning: philosophy, economics, laws, education, liberal arts, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine and administration.
Guizhou University always places importance on developing international cooperation and exchanges. So far, the University has established cooperative and exchange relations with more than 60 academic institutions in over 20 countries and regions.
