Confucius School in Singapore In July 2007, Xu Jialu, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Xu Lin, General Director of the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) unveiled the plaque for the Confucius School in Singapore, which works closely with local primary and secondary schools, assisting with Chinese instruction, playing an active role in basic Chinese education in Singapore. Singapore is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural country with close to a 76 percent Chinese population. Compared to other countries around the world, Singapore has a greater potential and need for the promotion of the Chinese language. The Confucius School in Singapore has accumulated rich experience in Chinese instruction, established a broad space for Chinese cooperation and exchange, laying a solid foundation for the development of the Confucius school.
