Confucius Institute at Bulacan State University, Philippines In November, 2007, the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) signed an agreement with Bulacan State University to jointly establish a Confucius Institute. During the signing ceremony, it was confirmed that the Northwest University will be the Chinese partner of the Confucius Institute.
Founded in 1904, Bulacan State University is located in Malolos and is responsible for the education of 19,000 students. The Confucius Institute will offer various Chinese courses, conduct Chinese cultural activities and hold HSK examinations in the hope of meeting the demands of Philippinos for Chinese and strengthening communication and friendship between the two peoples. Confucius Institute at Bulacan State University is the second Confucius Institute in the Philippines supported by the Chinese Government. BSU has signed the Agreement of cooperation on the establishment of Bulacan University Confucius Institute with Northwest University of China, the same year of November, the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) has signed the formal Agreement with BSU. On September 6, 2008, Chinese Counterpart director and mandarin teacher arrived and began to work. Since then, it has been making great efforts to the basic construction of the institute and the organization of some teaching and cultural activities as well. In the future, it will be striving for the promotion of the Chinese language and culture in the Philippines. |
