Background

Confucius Institute at Phuket, Prince of Songkla University in collaboration with Shanghai University, People’s Republic of China officially opened on December 24th , 2006 at Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus. As authorized by The Office of Chinese Language Council International (HANBAN), The Confucius Institute at Phuket, Prince of Songkla University shall be a non-profit institution providing Chinese Teaching, academic research and promotion of Chinese Culture.

The Purpose

In order to strengthen the friendly relations between China and Thailand, Confucius Institute at Phuket, Prince of Songkla University is a welfare teaching institution, which aims to promote the Chinese Language and culture to the public by providing the local people with the opportunity to learn Chinese and knowedge about China’s society in high-quality conditions.

Administrative Organization

 The Confucius Institute at Phuket consists of the Board of Trustees that is set up by Prince of Songkla University (PSU) and Shanghai University (SU). The Board of Trustees comprises of 9 trustees, including 5 trustees from Shanghai University and 4 trustees from Prince of Songkla University. The Board of Trustees shall be responsible for planning, supervising and evaluating the administration of the Confucius Institute. The Confucius Institute at Phuket adopts the system in which the president of "The Confucius Institute" works under the leadership of the Board of Trustees and is responsible for administrative work and the normal operation of teaching, research and logistic service.
