Chulalongkorn University and Chinese Hanban signed a formal contract to cooperatively construct a Confucius Institute in December 2006. Peking University, China and Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, both of them one the most famous and longest standing universities in their countries, work cooperatively for the Confucius Institute, and Princess Sirindhorn also takes a great concern to the establishment of it. Chulalongkorn University had a leading position in Chinese language teaching in Thailand.
