In March 2005, Chinese Hanban and Kasetsart University, Thailand signed an agreement of intent to cooperatively establish a Confucius Institute. In 2006, Chinese Huaqiao University, as the executive organization under the authorization of Hanban, began substantial cooperation with Kasetsart University. In August 2006, the Confucius Institute began to operate.
