Burapha University, Thailand signed an contract with Chinese Hanban to cooperatively establish a Confucius Institute in the unversity in November 2006. Wenzhou University and Wenzhou Medical University of China were to carry out substantial cooperation with Burapha University to establish the Confucius Institute.

On May 11, 2008, the opening ceremony of this Confucius Institute was held in Burapha University, delegates from the three universities attended the ceremony.

In the working meeting held afterwards, some executive projects and plans were discussed. Courses such as Oral Chinese, Chinese Writing, Commercial Chinese Speaking, lectures on Chinese Traditional Medicine Health Preservation, and Chinese summer camp were also discusssed .
