The Confucius Institute at TexasA&MUniversity, which was inaugurated on April 28, 2008, is an outreach effort of TexasA&MUniversity to help to better prepare students and the State of Texas for a global future. The Institute, in keeping with Texas A&M’s profile as a research university, is focused on increasing cultural, academic, and scientific connections with China, in addition to strengthening Chinese language teaching. The institute also sponsors academic research, workshops and seminars, and cultural activities on and off campus. On campus partners in the Confucius Institute include the College of Education and Human Development, the College of Liberal Arts, and the International Programs Office. The Confucius Institute at TexasA&MUniversity promises to dramatically increase the ability of citizens across Texas to learn more about the Chinese language and Chinese culture, and it will also allow Texas A&M to have a greater role in helping the citizens of Texas to more fully understand the critical importance of Chinese language, culture, and society.
The Confucius Institute at TexasA&MUniversity is a collaborative partnership with the Hanban and the Ocean University of China. This initiative allows TexasA&MUniversity to rapidly expand its Chinese language teaching capacity, and the capacity of the university to begin training Chinese language teachers in the state of Texas, which will be a critical need in the coming years. It will dramatically increase the ability of citizens across Texas to learn more about the Chinese language and Chinese culture, and it will also allow Texas A&M to have a greater role in helping the citizens of Texas to more fully understand the critical importance of Chinese language, culture, and society.
