Recently, 19 foreign students from Seoul Theology University, Siberian Federal University etc have finished their study of Chinese in our college. After a period of studying, they greatly improved therir Chinese. Now they can speak Chinese fluently in their daily lives. During their last few days of Chinese studying, some of them took down their experiences and would like to share with us. Lin Bingxue, student of Siberian Federal University Russia
I am so exciting that I can study Chinese in Oriental Institute in March.
In fact, before I come here I do have some doubts about it. The school is far away from the city center,so I am worried about that I could hardly get chances to hang out. However, when I arrive here, I find that my worries are unnecessary. The campus and its surroundings are bustling with beautiful night scenes which are rarely seen in Russia. Therefore, every night in China is like a festival for me.
Every weekend, I go shopping at places like Central Avenue and the Gogol Avenue. I believe in Buddhism, so I often go to the Temple of Seventh Heaven, where I can get peace and reflective thought about life.
Monday to Friday is my studying days. To others, my life seems to be monotone. But I think it is good for me. My teacher is very professional. Her lessons are neither too easy nor too difficult for me, so I like the way she teaches us. Though I usually can’t get enough sleep, it is always pleasant for me to study Chinese.
The Oriental Institute arranges PE course for our spare time. So I learn wheels skating with Chinese. And we also study together sometimes. In order to help our Chinese, the college recommends two Chinese students to each of us foreign students. They introduced a lot of fun places to me. I’m glad about that.
I’m a fan of Chinese movies. I sometime watch them at cinema while some time at home on DVD. In this way, my Chinese gets improved as well as my understanding about the culture. In Chinese, to kill two birds with one stone!
I appreciate my two Chinese friends all the time, though my Chinese still needs to be improved a lot. I believe as long as I spend time on it, my Chinese proficiency will be totally different . I like talking with Chinese very much. From the bottom of my heart, I have long been in love with China and desired to treat it as my second hometown. So I decide to turn my feeling into practice that is to understand the Chinese culture and to be a China hand.

To every student, experiences of studying abroad are always unforgettable. Just during the short period of time, they tasted the bitter as well as the sweet.
I caught cold when I arrived at Harbin in March. It was so bad that I even couldn’t open my eyes. Fortunately, my Chinese friends gave me so much care that I greatly gratitude for it. What my mom said to me before I left for China dashed into my mind every time I missed home. She told me that studying abroad was a precious part of life and nd that I should remember to control myself. These words stimulate me to move on, while the other motivation is from my Chinese friends.
During my first couple days in China, I really felt lonely being no family and friends aside. Fortunately, the college recommended two Chinese students for each of us to help our language. They helped me a lot with kindness and intelligence. I often came to theirs and chatted with them. They were always patient to correct my pronunciation and diction. Before long, we became good friends. They paid so much care on my life and study. Luckily for me, one of them is local, and that makes my life here colorful. On Tomb-sweeping Day, he took me to the Temple of Confucius, while on Labor Day, we went to see Chinese movies together. He also taught me Chinese idioms. Recently, I have been told that my Chinese sounded better than before. I’m so glad to hear that.
I’ll never forget my days in China even after I come back to my country. Every moment there deserves to be remembered. And the friendship between my Chinese friends and I will never change.
Cheng Ai Side, a student of Seoul Theology University
I came to Oriental Institute last August. It has been a long time since I left home. For me, it is not easy. However, being around with many Chinese students and teachers, I live a happy life here.
I still remember the first time I went to canteen. Since it was the first day of semester, none of us knew where the canteen was. Under the guidance of a Chinese student, we finally got there. We didn’t know what to choose, so we asked a staff's opinion on popular dish. Confused as she was, She recommended us some delicious food. From then on, we’d like to ask her opinion every time and that made her our first Chinese friend.
At the class of Korean, we also met some Chinese students. They were warm to us. We helped each other a lot. I think that is good for our Chinese studying. Occasionally, they invited us to their departments. Although speaking different languages, we cherish our friendship.
On my birthday, I got wishes from them. At that moment, I was so touched that my eyes were filled with tears. At the though of having them beside me when I’m in trouble, I would rather stay here for all my life.
Though I’m still not quite fluent in Chinese, I will try my best to follow the guidance of my teacher.
