“The Chinese students are very good at academic study, and we do wish and welcome more and more Chinese students to study in our university.” Datin Hajah Rosnah Binti Haji Ramly, Director of International Office of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, said in the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week.
“The Educational Tour Exhibition of this China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week is a good chance for the Chinese people to know the teaching level of Brunei Darussalam, and after this, I believe there will be more Chinese students who would choose Brunei Darussalam to further their study.” Datin told the reporter.
Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), established in 1984, is the center of Brunei Darussalam's higher education and scientific research. Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam, Chancellor of the university and also the head of the country, grants diplomas and degrees to every student .
Today, the University accommodates more than 300 academic staff and 2,800 students in seven faculties, namely Arts and Social Sciences, Business, Economics and Policies Studies, Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Institute of Islamic Studies, Science, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education, Academy of Brunei Studies and Institute of Medicine, and it also has a language center offering courses of various foreign languages.
Now there are 8 Chinese students and some Chinese exchange studetns studying in UBD. English is the teaching language in UBD, and 40% of the teaching staff are from Europe, America, and Indin.
